Dr. Gitte Frederiksen graduated from the Royal Dental College under the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1991.
Alongside her dental studies she played Danish National League Basketball.
Dr. Frederiksen completed the Doctors and Naval Medicine Program in the Danish Armed Forces Health Division and worked in MASH units with the Danish Navy for 2 ½ years. Following this she worked in private practice in Copenhagen, Denmark until she moved to Canada in 1995.
In 1996 she passed the Canadian National Board Exam, received her certificate from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and worked as an associate in a full-service Toronto Dental Anesthesia practice for 4 years.
In 2000 she opened her private practice in Yorkville, Downtown Toronto focusing on General, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry.
Dr Frederiksen has worked with Shaw Lab Group as an advisory consultant and has lectured for Biohorizons and Shaw Lab Group. She has also worked as an Assistant Clinical Instructor for the University of Toronto Cosmetic Dentistry programs.
For the past few years, she has worked as a Surgical Associate at a Downtown Dental Implantology clinic.
Dr. Frederiksen is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Prosthodontic Fellow of the Misch International Implant Institute.
In her spare time Dr. Frederiksen races sailboats and is an active member of the racing community on Lake Ontario. She is also an avid alpine and cross-country Skier.
Her passion for sports led her to a past position on the CAN Fund Executive Advisory where she worked raising funds for Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Athletes. She also held a position on Lakeshore Swim Club’s Board of Directors.
